Week 16

(My eczema has gotten much worse so I’ve missed a few lessons)

At the start of this week we listened to Alex Morgan perform 1 of his modern monologues (lieutenant of inishmore) he did an excellent job performing this monologue especially under the circumstances we’re in, he added accent to his character and even fully memorized the monologue even though we were only told to learn 8 lines.

This got me thinking about how I could develop Iago, because naturally Iago is a bit of a snake and a nasty and angry person, but my monologue is quite peaceful and tranquil, I decided to explore why and delve even deeper into the mind of Iago. My monologue uses a lot of metaphors and imagination as I’m talking about “our bodies” as “gardens” and “our wills” as “gardeners”, meaning if we are weak willed or do not have the resolve to push forward will crumble and or bodies (gardens) will rot and eventually die. I have only so far explored this idea about gardens, and gardeners and some of the other stuff that’s mentioned in the monologue but i have not thought about how I would perform it yet.

There have also been some complications with my Richard III monologue as its not “in the list” of monologues so i need to find another one to replace it.
