My personal final Evaluation for Sean

During the final performance I completely stayed in character and fully immersed myself in the world around me and in the nature of the character. In preparation for this I decided to just be angry throughout the whole day so I naturally build up the violence for Sean, and when I walked on that stage for the final time as Sean it was easy to become Sean, King of the Tigers.

At first I was nervous however that sense of nervousness was quickly taken over by the sense of excitement and the rush of having 40+ people in the audience and having all eyes on me, and like a druggy on a cocaine rush I was personally having a rush myself because of how good I was feeling about myself in that performance, and Richard Goodwin being there watching me (My former teacher and director) just made that rush all the better to experience.

Of course my performance wasn’t without fault, sometimes I’d rush my lines a bit too much, or accidentally cut someone off whilst they are speaking. At one point during the End of the play I completely forgot to bring a prop on for Joe who was dying (the prop was a bloodied blanket). I forgot to bring it on as I was too busy and focused on applying fake blood on my shirt, hands and face, which is something we have never rehearsed since we didn’t want to ruin our costumes by staining them with blood before the play. however it taught me a very important lesson which was to never, NEVER do something on the show night that you haven’t done in rehearsals.

However apart from the fact that I rushed a few lines, interrupted Theresa’s line in scene 5 and didn’t bring a single prop on stage, I feel like I did amazingly to maintain such a gritty and violent character for the whole play and believe in it too. In my own personal opinion, Sean is my best character I’ve ever played realistically.

My personal final evaluation on props management

In terms of props I feel like I did excellent especially since I was working alone for most of it, and was the only one in the props team trying to identify, locate and acquire the props necessary for the play. I found every single prop we needed and set it correctly so its where it should be so that there is no confusion, as well as setting all of the Act 2 props in a separate room ready to go grab and set during the interval between Act 1 and Act 2 which was very easy, fast and efficient. I didn’t have a single problem with the props.

My personal final evaluation on the Staged Combat Choreography

All of the Staged Combat was done perfectly and flawless. every kick was amazing, every punch was spectacular and every hit landed with impact. I worked very hard to try to picture in my head some amazing fights and sequences that will make the audience physically react to every hit and feel feel the impact hit them on the face, and from the look of it and from talking with some of the audience after the show that’s exactly how it went. I got exactly what I’ve been trying to achieve and it felt good, every fight was on peak performance, it was the best we’ve ever done it and that made me so proud of myself, and the other actors.

My personal Final Evaluation on the whole play

The whole play went exactly as I thought it would, it was really good but not exceptional. In terms of lines i didn’t forget or get a single line wrong throughout the whole play, I learnt all of my lines early on and then just worked on learning my queues so I had all of my lines and queues down. However it wasn’t like that for everyone, some people were unsure of their lines so they slowed down the scene or dragged it a bit and some just completely forgot entire lines.

Aidan who was struggling the most with lines, at the start of the day Aidan didn’t know 1 of his scenes at all but worked really hard all day to learn all of his lines for that scene for the show he managed to learn all of his lines so a massive well done to Aidan however it unrealistic if you think you can learn an entire scene in 1 day and perform it without any hiccups along the way. Saeem and Aidan did well on their scene together however Aidan did forget his lines here and there occasionally, but considering he didn’t know any on that scene before hand I am very happy with how it turned out and how they managed to power through.

At some points where there was loud music or sound effects in the background it was hard to hear what the actors speaking were saying at the time due to a lack of projection however everyone’s articulation and annunciation was great and all the vocal warm-ups we did before the show were definitely paying off. I made sure my projection was always loud enough for the deaf granny in the back row to hear me fine, but never too loud to the point that I am straining my vocals and my neck. I also articulated and enunciated every word and emphasized certain words to put further emphasis on the fact that I am the leader, and that I call the shots.

Overall you can definitely tell how much we improved or changed our path in terms of acting, since some of us are no longer going to do acting, this show, Scuttlers, was absolutely stellar and an amazing way to close the curtain on this chapter of our lives and to open up a new curtain for those going into further Acting.
