My personal evaluation – Brother Jerimiah –
I had a strong entrance, i also improved on the the helpful criticism which i had previously received, this added more personality and flare to my character of Jerimiah. I looked upwards much more making my face a lot more visible to the audience and it also allowed me to express myself much more with my facial expressions. At one point i forgot the line “for such sinful role play is gateway..” however i did not break character and instead continued and improvised that bit which i had forgotten. My diction, clarity and projection were on point and i nailed the tone of voice i was aiming for, for the character of Jerimiah.
My personal evaluation – End of the Play –
At the end of Something Rotten we get into lines that goes in size order and I was up and ready for it as soon as our queue was said/sung, I did not hold back I completely went for it and gave it my all with the kicking, singing and dancing bits.
Evaluation of the whole piece –
The piece started off with a very strong start by the three narrators on stage who gave a clear and beautiful narration of the starting act and who opened the scene, the character of Nick had good projection, diction and clarity however, his lines were delivered a bit too fast in my opinion, after that though, Nick bottom was perfect. Peter had an excellent action/reaction to when Robin enters the stage in a dress. He projects and reacts to Robin flirting with him by pushing him away with a facial expression of disgust. Robin was done amazingly, he was funny to watch and brightened up the stage. Nigel was a fun character to watch as she is a big fan girl of Shakespeare, so whenever Shakespeare was mentioned she got really excited and hyper and when Shakespeare showed up she was over the moon, you could tell by her expressions and actions. Lord Clapham was very authoritarian which was great since that’s the characters purpose when she/he is on stage is to assume authority and be above everyone else. William Shakespeare was good on stage, you could see all his narcissistic qualities of being full of himself and not letting anyone else take the spotlight away from him, however i did feel like he was quiet at times and hard to hear, but his sassy nature worked very well for that interaction in between Will and the Bottom brothers. (I’ve done Brother Jerimiah on my personal evaluation) and then the acting part was finished off by the three narrators who once again did a brilliant job at telling the story and introducing the next part of the performance. The singing by the three Nostradamus was good as far as i could tell, i did notice some hiccups here and there but overall it was really well sung and acted out. each Nostradamus had his own personality which was refreshing to see since if they were just copies of each other it would not have been nearly as interesting to watch. The dancing parts were flawless from my point of view. Seasons of love was good and a nice change of pace to watch and hear. It was slower and calmer than the previous dances/songs and was delivered really well however I did spot some people that did not have the correct posture, but instead were fidgeting with their hands. And finally the rest of the dances/singing was also flawless or i didn’t spot any mistakes.
